Something Completely Out in Left Field.

Okay, so as of the last couple of weeks,
I have been engaged in a shall we say interesting encounter.
Something I never imagined of dealing with.
I am thankful that God gave me wisdom, discernment, and a calmness to deal.
So, you wanna know my crazy story?!?

I would probably say; "Ya, get on with it!"

Well, we posted some items on Kijiji a few weeks ago...some kids toys
and stuff we just didn't need anymore.
Spring purging at it's best, which generally I am not so good at being a hoarder by nature.
( I think it's a genetic condition, but I may be wrong)
Anyway, there was a fella interested in the table and wanted to pay a bit more
for it than the asking price...k....kinda weird.
Waiting ...  and a few interesting emails later I receive awaited letter.
Payment inside....a bank draft for $2430 more than we agreed on...hmmm.
My spidey senses are tingling.....well they were at the second email....but hey,
wanted to see what would happen.
Bossy letter....check with BMO.....I am not the first person to have this happen.
Security alert.....nice try bad guy....your scam will not work!
I may often seem quite blonde....but I am thankful for the Holy Spirit in me
prompting me to check into things way more than I possibly would have thought to on my own.

My God is good, and faithful, and mighty to save! (hey weren't we just singing that last night!)

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him,
so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Romans 15:13

Thank you Daddy for revealing the truth of this situation to me, for giving me the ability to discern that something was not right and the ideas to investigate it out more.  (Especially since discernment is not even close to a major gift you have given to me) It made me so aware of the fact that You care about all the details of my life and that you love and protect me in creative ways.  It also made me very aware of how, if I am expectant, You speak to me, You warn me and Your Holy Spirit is truly my Counselor.

Am I Truly Humble?

I find that I can get so caught up in the debate about why I believe what I believe.
I truly do not want to be judgmental, and yet I find God is bringing this heart issue
to the forefront of my mind time and time again lately.

Am I judging the actions of a loved one.....when I don't know their heart?
God knows their heart!

Am I judging the words of a book.....I can read it, and ask God to show me if it's truth.
His Word is the only Truth!

I think it is good to discuss things.
I also believe that we don't have to believe everything we hear or read.
I am going to include a link today from a man that I believe is after God's heart,
and I am hoping that we can join together and pray for him. (He is asking for prayer)
I enjoy his teaching because he speaks and writes from such a heart of humility.
May we seek God on the tough issues of life and continue to talk about them.
We should not fear discussing issues that concern us.
If we are teachable and humble, we can truly hear God.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
            declares the LORD.
“As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Isaiah 55:8-9

Thank you Daddy for examples of humility and teachability.
I pray that as your son Francis has asked, that you would give him a spirit of wisdom and revelation.
That he would be able to present your truth in an unbiased and humble manner....that the message that you have laid on his heart would come through the way you intended.
I pray that You would help me to walk in humility and reject judgement thoughts,
that You would give me Your grace to do today the work You have planned for me.

Do You Have 5 minutes?

Well y'all know I love hanging out with youth!
Many times they have something to share that we need to hear....
Do you have 5 minutes?
This is what one young man shared on facebook,
and I definitely think it is worth the 5 minutes it takes to watch it.
Powerful!

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world,
but to save the world through him.
John 3:16-17

Thank you Daddy for Jesus....for His message of Life!

Do you know how Beautiful you are?

Have you ever thought about beauty?
I am sure you have!

What defines beautiful?
The dictionary says : having qualities of beauty
What is beauty?
The dictionary says : the quality or aggregate of qualities in a person or thing
that gives pleasure to the senses or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit : Loveliness.

To me that is much more than our external attributes, but a collection of who we are as a whole.

Who defines beautiful?
Or, should I say, Who are you allowing to define whether or not you are beautiful?
Is it people; friends/family/someone who you walk by on the street?
Is it media? nuff said......
Is it God?
Your maker, creator.....the one who knew you before you were born
......the one who knit you together in your mother's womb
......the one who "rejoices over you with singing"
...... the one who gave everything for relationship with you
We need to reject lies, and embrace truth!
Who are you going to listen to today, what will you believe?
YOU are Beautiful!

The king is enthralled by your beauty;
honor him, for he is your lord.
Psalm 45:11

Thank you Daddy for showing me Your unfailing love!
Thank you  for Your Word, to remind me that You see me as beautiful.

Attitude of Gratitude

Ever wake up and just wanna be grumpy, because that's how you feel?
This morning that was my experience;
then I felt God nudge me to think about what I am grateful for.
  • children laughing
  • the smell of rain
  • a beautiful sunrise/sunset
  • a hug from a friend
  • a faithful husband
  • a warm bed to sleep in
  • healthy food/water
  • a hot shower
  • a free country to live in
  • family
  • a wonderful church to learn and grow in
  • faithful friends
Well there now....I feel much better already....and my list could go on and on.
For today:
I will not be run by my emotions, they are there to fuel my passions and purpose.
I will live with an attitude of gratitude.
I will expect to see God in all that comes my way today.
I will trust in Him, and forget not His benefits.

Praise the LORD, my soul;
all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
Praise the LORD, my soul,
and forget not all his benefits—
who forgives all your sins
   and heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from the pit
and crowns you with love and compassion,
who satisfies your desires with good things
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

Psalm 103:1-5

Daddy, you are good all the time.  Please help me to see you in all things, and give me the grace to live and love with an attitude of gratitude.  Your sacrifice paved the way for me to live a life of freedom and abundant joy.  Thank you that who the Son set free is free indeed!

Be Satisfied

Many days are filled with hustle and bustle.
Often I am driven to distraction with the many things that need doing.
I have found one truth that has stood the test of a few years now though.
When I take time each morning to spend time with God;
there I find satisfaction for my soul.
There is still the same amount of stuff to get done in a day;
but it is a joy to do it.....because my base need is satisfied.
Connection with my Father!
When I'm filled with His love and joy;
I can't help but have it pour out into every other part of my life.

Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love,
that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.
Psalm 60:14

Thank you Daddy that You satisfy me each morning with your unfailing love,
and for the grace you give so that I can live a joyful and full life!
May what you give to me overflow and be poured out into the lives of
those I spend time with each day, that they may be drawn closer to
You when they spend time with me.

Life's not Fair!

Okay, I am not ranting today, in case the title may make it seem that way!
I am reading The True Measure of a Woman, by Lisa Bevere;
and I wanted to share some beautiful nuggets of wisdom I read just this morning.
  • life is not fair, but God is just.
  • those who trust can be trusted.
  • people who do not love will fear.
  • time will reveal the true nature or character of a person.
  • it is not how many talents you possess; it is what you do with those talents.
  • all of us vary in our talents and abilities.
  • God wills the distribution of them.
  • He deals with us as individuals.
  • to each He fives at least one talent.
  • we will doubt God's goodness in areas where we are not sure of His character.
  • Our faith is meant to be used.
  • He is the way, the truth and the life.
  • He longs for us to simply seek Him.
  • He is Father, your Father.
  • He is good and perfect, caring and just.
These were just some tidbits that really spoke volumes to me today.
What measure are you using to determine your value?
I want to do all I can with what God has entrusted to me!
I want to hear:

His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant;
you have been faithful over a few things,
I will make you ruler over many things.
Enter into the joy of your lord.
Matthew 25:23

I understand that life is not fair, but You Daddy are just!  Thank you for the talents that you have given to me, please help me to be a good steward that uses them wisely.  That at the end of the day You can say "well done" to me.  Please add to my faith and help me overcome any unbelief.  Please help me also not to only be a hearer of Your Word, but also a doer!
